For forty years, since 1985, when I moved to Friendship Long Island, Maine with my mother, artist Barbara Beebe, I’ve been observing, learning about and depicting the island’s plant and animal life, its weather and seasons in paintings, drawings and sculptures.  Three long winters without electricity, and the incoming tide of light in the spring, taught me so much about light, and its ebbs and flows through the seasons.

I paint outside whenever possible, to observe and respond to the light and weather, and the bird, animal and insect life that carries on around me when I am standing still at my easel.  A few of the artworks, like “Winter Solstice” were created in my studio working from photos I took on a disposable camera from the drugstore.
